| Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, voluntary, short term counselling and advisory service that is provided as a employee benefit for employees and their families. How can the EAP help me?Personal problems can affect your work, personal and family life. Professional counselling and guidance can help in finding new approaches and solutions to personal and work-related issues. Who provides the service?Quinte Counselling Services Inc. is a professional multi-disciplinary firm that is an experienced EAP provider. The Counsellors providing services through this EAP are clinicians with extensive experience in a broad range of service delivery to individuals and families. What kinds of services are provided through the EAP?
Is the EAP Confidential? The service is completely confidential and no one at your place of employment will know that you have used your EAP unless you tell them. Your informed written consent is required to release information to a third party. Your workplace does not know the identity of the employees who use the EAP. The only exceptions when information must legally be provided to others, with or without consent, are when a Counsellor assesses that a person may be a threat to self or others; when there is suspicion of child abuse; or when required by a court order. Who pays the fees?Your employer pays for your EAP, so there is no cost to you. You are eligible for six sessions each calendar year. Should you require longer term counselling or specialised services, your Counsellor will help you to obtain assistance from a service that is covered by your extended health benefits or an affordable alternative. You would then be responsible for any fees that your benefits plan or Ontario Health Insurance do not cover.
A Service to assist you with problems in your work and family life During office hours you call the Quinte Counselling Services Inc. Intake Department who will ask you for some basic information and match you with a Counsellor. Appointments are scheduled for a time that is convenient to you, and usually within 2-3 days. If your need is urgent, an appointment can be scheduled within 12 hours. After hours, call (613) 966-4262 and a message can be left on the voice mail and the Intake Department will return your call the next office morning. If, after regular office hours, you need to talk to a counsellor immediately follow the instructions on the voice mail. Services are provided at the Quinte Counselling Service's quiet, confidential offices in Belleville's East Hill. To maintain confidentiality appointments are scheduled so that no one else from your workplace is seen at the same time. |
