Jose Benvenuto, M.S.W., M.A. RSW

Jose Benvenuto obtained his Master’s of Social Work Degree from York University, Toronto following the completion of a BSW from York and a Master’s Degree in Argentina. She previously taught University in Argentina. Jose is fluent in both Spanish and English. Jose is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers

Jose has considerable experience in assessing and treating adults, couples, families and seniors from all backgrounds using an integrated model of practice. Jose was a regular guest on Latin Radio Station in Toronto where he fielded listener questions on a broad range of subjects including elder abuse, couples problems, family dynamics, and immigration issues.

Jose has provided an extensive range of services focused on meeting the specific needs of his clients’ challenges. His style utilizes therapeutic approaches including Cognitive, Behavioral, EFT, Cultural and Communication Theory, High & Low Context Therapy, Brief Therapy and Mediation to support his clients’ becoming their best selves in relationship to themselves, their families, their life obstacles and environment.

His areas of clinical practice include Interdisciplinary Assessment. Couples Therapy, Individual Counseling, Family therapy, Seniors and their families, Crisis Intervention, Mediation, Domestic and Senior abuse, Parenting Programs, C.O.P.E. (Community/Parents Education), Minority Populations, Immigration Issues, Radio Counseling Programs, Jose also has considerable experience in setting up programs, workshop delivery, training, social research, and needs analysis.

Jose has been on the Board of Directors of many organizations including: the Latin American Community and the Canadian Hispanic Congress. Jose formed a partnership in 1992 with the North York Board of Education; participated in development of a manual for resourcing group leaders in the area of culturally sensitive child management and parenting with Dellcrest Children’s Centre; President of the Board of Directors, Pinefield Non-Profit Corporation in 1993 as part of the same project participated in the proposal writing and development of a social service agency to help immigrants in their settlement process.
